'Alex' photo sessions are informal and fun, we love taking pictures and enjoy the buzz and creativity involved, it's clear to see in all our images.

We take pictures of real people and if you perhaps feel a little bit apprehensive, don't worry our whole approach to photography is about making it fun. It's important to us that you get something out of the experience as well as a fantastic picture.

A typical family photo session will last an hour, it generally depends on how many people are involved, how many outfit changes etc. The studio is child and pet friendly and there is plenty of room for movement – running, jumping etc. For larger groups and extended families we can accommodate up to 24 people.

Dinner Jacket, T-shirt or hoodie?

What you wear at your photo session will have an affect on the final picture. Your decision on what to wear will need to balance your own personal style with our experience. Wearing black or white can help create pictures that are timeless and powerful, but can be too stark for some. Saturated colours such as red, orange, pink, blue are both vibrant and graphic. Why not consider a colour theme or use complementary colours for group shots, they have impact and create unity. Pastel colours on the other hand lack tone and contrast and so are best avoided. Lots of different patterns can be overwhelming particularly in group shots, the main consideration is what you look like together.

Including props in your photo session will personalise your pictures, so if you're into music or a football mad family why not bring something along and we'll be able to theme some of your pictures.

Playing music is a great way to create a 'buzz' and change the tempo, you are more than welcome to bring along your favourite music on CD.

The 'Solo' photo session is for someone looking for affordable individual picture(s) of their baby or toddler (below primary school age). These photo sessions give your toddler the freedom to run, jump and play in a controlled open studio space, they're not just sat on a table top in store in the full glare of the general public. They happen every Tuesday and Thursday and cost £40.

Each 'Solo' photo shoot lasts 15 minutes and from the session you'll be able to choose from approximately ten images. Included in the £40 cost are three prints, one 8x6 and two 6x4 inch prints. The three prints are of the same image. If you want to personalise your choice of pictures from your 'Solo' photo session there are of other options available, details and prices on request.

Photography Vouchers

Alex Photography sell a range of personalised gift vouchers to suit any budget. To purchase a voucher visit the studio or you can contact us at the studio by phone or email. Vouchers can be posted direct to your recipient or to yourself.

Voucher Terms & Conditions
(1) Vouchers are valid for four months from the date issued, this means you must book and take your photo session within this time period, no refund can be given should be unable to attend.
(2) Only one voucher per family, per photo session.
(3) Vouchers cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer or promotion.
(4) Vouchers are non-refundable and have no cash value.
